FMQ…..huh?

I admit it.  I am addicted to Free Motion Quilting. This is one of my FAVOURITE finishes for 2014. This fabric made me So happy. A heavy wool blanket for batting and FMQ all over. This is my current snuggle up on the couch quilt. Blog Post Here. Or…  “FMQ”, for short. In my humble opinion, I just like the look and texture you get from the finished quilt with a loopy-swirly FMQ pattern. This was my most ambitious project so far. Applique, stars, math, and lots and lots of…

2015 Skillbuilding – January’s Goal – To get Organized

**Warning. Terrible, terrible photos are at the bottom of this post.  They may be disturbing to some readers!!!** I will admit it. I make messes when I work. And…I *really* need to get into the habit of cleaning as I go. That is, putting things back where I got them when I use them. Not leaving things out, in piles. Everywhere. Is this anyone else or is it just me?  What are your surefire ways to stay organized? So this is January’s Skill to build, you may or may not …

It started Saturday….. As I stared into my stash of fabric….. thinking….masculine….masculine…..   Progressed into new slabs of strip fabrics…… And then…. Voila!!  Now yes the photo is pretty wonky; the cat tore across the dang thing *just* as I got to the top of the stairs to take the photo. So it’s straight, lol I swear. Snow makes for CUTE PHOTOS

Last year for Christmas; I received a wonderful and thoughtful gift….a Canon Rebel camera. I love it. I’m still learning to use it, for Christmas THIS year Santa brought a super cool zoom lens…(which I also have to learn how to use.) I know that photographs are probably the most important part of any blog; and I am slowly working on redoing most (all) of the photos of my quilts so you can really see the colours and work involved on them. Here are some updates you can see on…

Quilt for Fred’s Mom

I love my friend Fred. He is one terrific guy. And even though I’ve never had the pleasure of meeting her, his Mom is also one terrific lady, and MAN can she cook. So; my first finished (almost) commissioned quilt is for Mrs. F; and I hope she likes it. I wanted something homey but bright, so I chose yellows and browns and pinks for the main colours. Assembling the Springtime Blocks Piles of completed blocks The finished blocks assembled and laid out; on grass so yes it’s wobbly looking…
